Home to the Dabotap and Seokgatap pagodas and the Cheongun Bridge, Bulguksa is a UNESCO World Heritage site showing the craft of Silla Buddhist art at its clearest. Arrive in the morning for softer light and fewer crowds, and hanbok gets you through the gate for free.

Daereungwon gathers the burial mounds of Silla royalty — step inside Cheonmachong, and take in the scale of Hwangnam-daechong from outside. A 30-minute walk continues on to Cheomseongdae and Gyerim Forest nearby.

Cheomseongdae, the oldest astronomical observatory in East Asia, stands in an open field beside the royal tombs. The walk over from Daereungwon passes Gyerim Forest, and the old Silla capital settles in slowly with every step.

Hwangnidan-gil: Under the Hanok Roofs
Hwangnidan-gil runs alongside Daereungwon, its hanok roofs sheltering cafes and small shops. Known as one of the most photographed streets in Gyeongju, it makes an easy, slow close to the day.
